Peabody Individual Achievement Test-PIAT

The Peabody Individual Achievement Test-Revised (PIAT-R) is an individually administered, nationally norm-referenced measure of academic achievement.  The test was designed to provide a wide range assessment of six content areas that can be used with students in kindergarten through the 12th grade.  The test meets all end-of-grade testing requirements for the State of North Carolina.

The six content areas covered by the PIAT-R are:

  1.  General Information

  2.  Reading Recognition

  3.  Reading Comprehension

  4.  Mathematics

  5.  Spelling

  6.  Writing (Grammar)

The starting point for each student is their current grade placement but is quickly adjusted according to their unique strengths and weaknesses.  Testing will continue until the student falters enough to warrant stoppage of a particular subtest.

You will be furnished with a 7-page report indicating grade level equivalency in all six categories.  The report will include the single page required should the State of North Carolina require you to show evidence of testing.

A consultation is available to assist parents in developing instructional strategies based on test results.

The administration time for the PIAT-R is 50 minutes to 1 hour and 15 minutes.
